Itinerary for Baguio City Tours

Baguio City in 3 days and 2 nights

Trip start date: Feb. 14, 2012
Trip end date: Feb. 16, 2012

Me and my husband are so excited on our Baguio Trip next week. We do a lot of researching for us to have a enjoyable trip and to maximize the days we will be spending on the Summer Capital of the Philippines.

Here's our itinerary for Baguio City Tours

Day 1:
7am:  Arrive & Check in at Peredo's Lodging House Inc.

9am:
Burnham Park

Burnham Park is Baguio City's premier park. While Manila has Luneta or Rizal Park, Baguio City has Burnham Park. Named in honor of its planner and architect, Daniel Burnham, Burnham park is the most popular park in Baguio City.

Around the park are the children's playground, biking area, orchidarium, football ground, skating rink, tennis court, basketball court and a few restaurants. The place gets so much visitors during the summer particularly the Holy Week and during Christmas season. By tradition, people flock to Burnham park on Christmas and New Year's day for picnics.

In the middle of the park is a man-made lake where you can go boating. If you'd rather savor the view of the lake or its beautiful surroundings, you can just walk around, enjoy the flowers, take pictures or probably just have a seat in one of the benches and watch.

The main entrance to the Baguio Botanical Garden is along Leonard Wood Road, between Teachers Camp and Wright Park.

By private transport:
From Session Road, head toward Leonard Wood Road. Past Teachers Camp, to your right, is the main entrance to Botanical Garden, where parking is available along the roadside.

By public transport:
There are many, many jeepney lines that pass Leonard Wood Road, all emanating from the Central Business District (Plaza) so ride one that indicates Plaza to the following places: Mines View, Pacdal, Beckel, Country Club, Navy Base, Tuding, Itogon. There are also many taxi cabs that you may take to and from Botanical Garden.

Wright Park Riding

Many enjoy exploring the hills of Baguio City on horseback. A regular one hour trail ride is very common, especially for young adults.

Now that most Baguio roads are fully developed, a lot of the trail rides are accessed via paved roads. It is essential to take a guide along with you to take you there, and more importantly, to be around to help the riders and horses along the way.

The Mansion

If you get lucky, the guards will let you in to take a good photo past the gates, which are said to be  replica of Buckingham Palace.

Mines View

Baguio City started out as an American mining town in the early 20th Century, and one of its lasting attractions is Mines View Park.

Good Sheperd Convent

You will find the Good Shepherd Convent in the Mines View Barangay. Its main entrance is along Gibraltar Road and it is within walking distance from the souvenir shops at Mines View Park.

The store is popularly known for the different products made by the Good Shepherd nuns and visitors coming up to the city who are familiar with items sold in the store always make it a point buy something to take back home. Among the most sought items are fruit preserves, strawberry and ube jams, cashew and peanut brittle, and coco jam. Most of their products are also sold by different stalls in the Baguio Public Market and at various other outlets within the city. The money generated from the sale of their products is used for the different charities sponsored by the Good Shepherd nuns and also for the maintenance and upkeep of the convent.

 Lourdes Grotto

The Lourdes Grotto is another Catholic shrine and place of meditation in Baguio. It is located on a high hill in the western part of Baguio City where you will find the image of the Lady of Lourdes. It is a favorite pilgrimage site during Holy Week most especially during Holy Thursday and Good Friday. Access to the top of the grotto could be made by climbing the long steps or by driving up a winding road.
Asin Hot Springs

Actually outside city limits, but considered a Baguio resource, it contains natural hot springs. Some resorts have sprung up in recent years and the area is pretty much underdeveloped but is still a place that tourists should visit.
